Cosmetic Lab Advice

Cosmetic Lab Advice

Do you know how to run your Cosmetics Lab?

Selecting the necessary lab equipment is a big challenge at the beginning of your cosmetic formulation career. There are hundreds of instruments and instrument suppliers out there, all making fantastic promises of being able to fulfil all your laboratory and production requirements with just one single instrument.

When you are first starting your business, you don’t want to pay a fortune for a measuring instrument or a homogenizer just to put it in your lab for decorative purposes. During our years of experience as formulators, advisors, coaches and consultants we’ve met entrepreneurs who have purchased many expensive instruments just to realise they don’t need them at all.

We would be happy to accompany you through this period of your cosmetic formulation career to identify the instruments and equipment you really need for your laboratory or small production facility. Let us show you what is a priority and what isn’t, so that you can equip your lab step-by-step and avoid wasting money.

Do you know how to apply Good Manufacturing Practice?

Good Manufacturing Practice, or GMP, is a necessity in your artisan cosmetics lab. In some parts of the world such as the EU, it’s a legal requirement. If you do not know how to implement it, or are concerned that your operations are not meeting cosmetic GMP, then you may be putting your products, your customers and your business at risk.

We are familiar with cosmetic GMP, and understand the guidelines well which are set out in ISO22716, the cosmetic GMP standard.

Let us run through your current GMP procedures and make recommendations, or let Green Alchemy write your lab’s GMP procedure which you need to adhere to every single time you formulate any cosmetic products.

Let Green Alchemy work for you

We need to know about your requirements, capacities and wishes.

  1. What is the approximate area of your lab or production?
  2. Are you looking for a particular test instrument?  Do you need a trial production or real batch production instrument?
  3. What are the products you’re going to test or produce?
  4. What are the capacities of your batches and the frequencies of your tests?

We can help you preselect the required instruments and advise you on your GMP requirements. If you’re looking for a suitable homogenizer for your emulsions or an oven for your thermal stability tests, an affordable viscometer or a centrifuge, let us figure out the most suitable instruments that suit your specific requirements and capacities.

Visit our Professional Cosmetics Laboratory

We can even offer you a tour around our professional cosmetics laboratory in Germany to show you how a lab normally works.

Prepare your formulation, bring it with you and then check its characteristics using our laboratory equipment (viscosity, microscopic dimensions, centrifuge stability etc.). The tests and procedures will vary from product to product.

For a reasonable testing process, we suggest a two day tour so that you can prepare the product on the first day and check them on the second day. You’ll have a firsthand opportunity to experiment with different instruments and understand their differences.

This is more than just looking at a brochure picture or watching an instrument in an exhibition. You’re going to work with the instrument, learn its advantages and disadvantages in a real working atmosphere and see exactly how a professional cosmetics lab works.
